Plein Air Painting Workshop

Now in it's 8th year, this 3 hour class focuses on painting the mountains as seen from the YMCA using demonstration and individual instruction.
The instructor will explain composition, use of acrylic paint and general painting techniques. This class is for adults, ages 15 and up (or instructor's permission).
Total cost is $65 which includes a 9” x 12” painting and a take home
“painting supply kit”.

Sketching Hikes – New this year!

This is a 4 hour outdoor drawing workshop for adults, ages 15 and up (or instructor's permission),who enjoy both hiking and sketching.
Learn how to see details in trees, flowers, and other flora found in special places around the YMCA grounds. Total cost of class is $45 which includes a take home “field sketching kit”.

Outdoor Drawing Classes for Kids

A 1 hour class for 3rd to 6th graders.
Parents and interested others are welcome to participate. Total cost is $20. This includes a take home kit with drawing pad, pencils and set of 48 crayons.

About the Instructor: Susan K. Dailey is a Colorado mural artist.

Things that will be covered in the class include: composition, determining a focal point, atmospheric painting, creating the illusion of depth, creating a sense of light and general painting techniques. The teaching approach includes demonstration, group and individual instruction.

The workshop will focus on painting the mountains as seen from the YMCA, using acrylic paints. The instructors have experience painting with oils and pastels, and participants with their own supplies in these mediums are welcome to take the class (check for details at Sweet Memorial*).  The instructor will talk about composition, determining a focal point, atmospheric painting, creating the illusion of depth, creating a sense of light and general painting techniques.   Their teaching approach includes demonstration and individual instruction.
