Mountain of the Holy Cross
Acrylic on Canvas panel
9” x 12” |
This mountain was first photographed in the 1870’s. Due to erosion and a dryer climate, the cross shaped snowfield is not as distinctive today as it was in the 1800’s. Consulting historic photographs, the artist recreated the mountain as it may have appeared in the late 1800’s. This piece was commissioned by a Recorder Orchestra as a host gift to a church in Japan.Colorado Recorder Orchestra director Rosi Terada and her husband Dr. James Terada, present a painting by Susan K. Dailey to the minister of the Shibuya Evangelical church in Tokyo, Japan. The orchestra was on a two week tour, performing in various places throughout Japan.
