About the Instructor
Susan K. Dailey has been painting murals since 1977. She graduated with a BFA in painting from Indiana University and has a Masters degree from CSU. Susan has taught art in the public schools and in artist-in residence programs in Idaho, Nebraska, Hawaii, Indiana, New Mexico and throughout Colorado. Her Public art works adorn walkways in parks and in public buildings including the outside of a grain elevator in Berthoud, Colorado! Here at the YMCA of the Rockies, Estes Park Center, her mural work can be seen in the Lula Dorsey museum and in front of the gift shop in the Administration Building. Susan designed the 2007 Centennial Poster, the original can be seen in the Executive Office Building near the entrance of the conference center (Prints and posters are available for purchase in the museum and in the general store. Postcards of the Centennial painting are also available in the Administration Building gift shop). Framed “plein air” original works by Susan are available for sale in the Lula Dorsey museum gift shop. Susan participated in the annual Plein Air Painting Event in Estes Park in 2004, and fell in love with painting outdoors. The workshop will focus on painting the mountains as seen from the YMCA, using acrylic paints. Susan also has experience painting with oils and pastels, and participants with their own supplies in these mediums are welcome to take the class.
