About the Artist
Susan’s work could be described as “stylized figurative.” She incorporates a variety of media in her work including acrylics, oils, mosaic tile, clay, natural objects, metals, woods and stone.
Susan often collaborates with other artist on larger mural projects. Recently, with artist Juli Schrader, she completed a 35’ long mosaic commissioned piece in Longmont, Colorado, that incorporated both painting and mosaic techniques. With artist Eleanor Yates, she completed a 55’ tall painted mural on an 80’ tall building. This was a commission mural that graces an historic grain elevator in Berthoud, Colorado.
Susan has created museum backdrops and dioramas as well as outdoor public monuments. Her murals span the spectrum of subject matter and she has also conducted community and student participation mural projects.
Susan teaches drawing, painting and mosaic construction. She conducts seasonal outdoor “Plein Air” painting classes at the YMCA of the Rockies in Estes Park, CO. She also teaches through Front Range Community College.
In addition to her artistic activities, Susan is also a musician, she performs at local venues with the Fort Collins Bluegrass Band.
Susan loves the mountains of Colorado and also enjoys hiking and telemark skiing.
